A BBC long read highlights case studies of two people in Northern Ireland who have missing people who are family members.

The article highlights statistics from the National Crime Agency’s Missing Persons Report 2016/17.

Joe Apps is quoted as saying "anything that challenges you in life could be a factor that causes you to go missing, whether you are a child or an adult. For adults, it can be drugs or alcohol abuse, relationship breakdown, financial worries, worries about family and bereavement - anything you can think of would be a reason for someone to go missing."

Joe Apps is also quoted noting that police are very cautious about the use of mediums, he adds, and always seek corroboration with other information received.
